The flat rate shipping option allows you to set product-specific fixed-price shipping rates.
Flat rate shipping is grouped into three separate methods:
Domestic : Domestic flat-rate shipping is applied to any order where the shipping address country is your own store's country.
International : International flat-rate shipping is applied to any order where the shipping address country is outside of your own store's country and not within the custom flat-rate country list.
Custom : Custom flat-rate shipping is applied to any order where the shipping address country is within the custom flat-rate country list. You can define custom flat-rate countries from the Settings/Shipping Settings section of your store admin.
Each flat-rate shipping region contains the following flat rate shipping fee options:
Primary Shipping Fee: This is the primary shipping fee charged for ordering the product.
Additional Items Shipping Fee: This is the shipping fee charged for ordering additional products.
Primary Handling Fee: This is the primary handling fee charged for ordering the product.
Additional Items Handling Fee: This is the handling fee charged for ordering additional products.
Example Shipping Configuration
In the above product configuration, The total shipping fee for ordering 1 product would be $11.00 ($10.00 Primary + $1.00 Primary Handling Fee)
If we were to order 4 of the products with the configuration above, the total shipping would be $20.00 ($10.00 Primary + $3.00 x 3 Additional + $1.00 Primary Handling Fee)
Creating Flat-Rate Add Ons
If you would like to offer additional flat-rate shipping options that are calculated from the total order shipping, you can do so by using the "Flat-Rate Add Ons" feature.
From the Settings/Shipping Settings/Flat-Rate Add Ons area of your store admin.
IMPORTANT: If a customers cart contains both products that use flat-rate shipping and carrier-shipping, your shipping method will always default to carrier shipping. It is important to enter accurate shipping weights on your products for this reason.
