Tip for Those of Us exporting/importing Highwire CVS Files

I have been working hard on getting my Google Merchant Account Data up to date and correct. I finally got the correct categories for jewelry and was adding sku, metal, color, stone to the attributes. Since the update for FTP and the zip file warnings were driving me crazy and Highwire does not use FTP and I never used FTP to upload my file I turned off the email alerts which I was getting everyday.

I checked my data feed and I had a bunch of warnings for attributes not reconized such as sku, metal, color and stone. I started going to each product and changing after reading the Google help sections and finally found the correct information. I tell you Google support is useless. Anyway I got to thinking this is going to take for ever so I exported a cvs file to change the attributes which I did and after changing them I imported the the new saved file.

I checked several of my products and  the  new attributes were corrected. So after checking a few other product I found on my rings which offer sizes and inventory that the product variants were missing. This just showed one size and no products or out of stock.

So I took the exported cvs file and entered all the product variants in the file and imported again. Now I think I have everything back in place.

Just for information I use Microsoft Products 2007 such excel, outlook, word and all the others. I just do not know why it deleted or left off the product variants. So check that before imported the file.

Hope this helps some one.

Thanks
Billy

Hey Billy - did you notice Google has dropped many of the formerly approved attributes?   style- occasion- made_in- material and many others are no longer on the "approved" list.  I have the warnings for these attributes but the items are still being accepted- for how long, I don't know!

I've been recieving emails from google that my products were accepted for some times.  But on 3/15, I received an email from google that states "no items inserted".

Has anyone ever received this message?  And how did you correct this?

Thanks,

Stephanie,

Google has got to be the most frustrating thing I have EVER dealt with....   AAarrrrggghhh....

Diana.... I got SO TIRED of seeing all those warnings... I finally decided to just export my items category by category out of Highwire and "fixed" my attributes to make those blasted warnings go away! I had like 3000+ warnings for one of the attributes they eliminated. Only took me one evening to get it all straightened out. Now I'm sticking with condition and brand... and the heck with anything else.

Stephanie...  I had the same thing happen on 3/16.... "no items inserted". I went from 3753 items inserted to zero. Only I didn't get an email...  I just happened to see it on my Google Merchant dashboard. I went to the Google Help forum and asked over there what to do about it. Celebird (who answers alot of the questions asked) told me to click on the "edit" beside the feed name and change the "file format" to XML (previously it had been set to "auto-detect" for the file format). After I did that, I went back to Highwire and downloaded the Highwire Google feed to my computer.... and then I did a Manual Upload to Google. It worked! ALL of my items were inserted. So check and see what your setting is for the "file format". It was an easy fix!!!

stonehillcollectibles,

Thanks for your response.  I checked my feed file and it's always been xml.  Perhaps many of my items have been disapproved.  Kinda confusing to figure out why these items have been disapproved.

I'm going to delete these disapproved items from my feed and upload the feed manually to google.  Maybe this will help.  I've read their help forum and some answered that it is usually some sort of policy violation.  It's so hard to tell.  I sorta have to guess why.

I'll just have to reupload the feed not containing the disapproved items.  Hopefully most of my items will be accepted.  (It's better to have some or most items accepted than to have none accepted).  :)

stonehillcollectibles,

Thanks for the help.  I manually upload the feed onto google and almost all of my items were accepted!

Fair warning....    My feed from last night???  Back to zero items inserted. The file format is set to xml. So this time I have NO clue what the issue is. Back to the Google forum again I guess...  Eeesh!!!

Sooo....  my scheduled feed that Google uploads results in zero items inserted. But when I download the SAME feed to my computer and do a manual feed to Google, 100% of the items are inserted???  Yet hubby's scheduled feed is working slick as can be.  Go figure...  Just one more thing to drive me a little bit more insane...
