Tomas,
Does Highwire have any plans on proving Highwire stores with a Bing shopping product feed?
Brian Smith reports that Bing Shopping is now free for merchants to submit their product feeds and obtain traffic from Bing. I tried to find information from Bing on this, but I guess it is not published yet.
We know Microsoft officially dropped the Cashback as of July 30, 2010. Brian said dropping Cashback and going free on August 1st is Microsoft’s plan to compete closer to Google’s free product search.
Microsoft does have some advertising information on Bing Shopping over here and merchants can submit a form to be included. In addition, if you download the PDF from Microsoft, it does say:
There is no cost to participate in the Bing Shopping program. Upload your feeds and have your products listed in Bing Shopping results with no cost per click or cost per sale.
This advertising page has been revamped and is new compared to what I see in the Google cache. The previous page just said, “contact a sales rep” to learn how to be included.
Finally, it seems Microsoft has opened up a new forum for Bing Shopping. There is currently a single “welcome” post in the forum.

That is interesting!! I hope it works for auto submit soon!
I just came to the forum to see if anyone had any news about this! Looks like Bing is trying to compete with Google. Yeah...would be nice to see someone else take the lead!
It appears to be Three Steps process to Getting Started with Bing Shopping.
We filled out the Application part and are waiting for a decision.
With BingTM Shopping, you can drive traffic to your sites for free—potentially displaying your online products to more than 93.6 million unique searchers 1 who are making decisions on Bing.
Ready to get started? Follow these steps
1. Determine your eligibility to participate in the Bing Shopping program:
- You must be domiciled in the United States. A good litmus test is whether or not your company or U.S. subsidiary has a U.S. Employer Identification Number (EIN).
- You must conduct transactions in U.S. dollars (USD)
- You must not sell any restricted products
2. Download the Bing Shopping program Merchant onboarding guide and start creating your feed. Please consult the Merchant Help Forum for any questions that you may have.
In response to your application we will provide you with information on how to set up your account in merchant center along with access to the Bing Merchant Data Feed Terms of Use which govern the Bing Shopping program.
Hope they allow UK users to do so eventually, it says they wil dol!!
So I got approved and everything for Bing. How the heck do we do the feed? I'm not good at this FTP stuff!

Same boat here just received my email from them saying I got approved now they want a specified feed and ftp junk let the fun begin.

The Bing Shopping program Onboarding Kit included An example data feed for your reference.
It looks like a feed can be created using MS Excell. I have attacted a screenshot for reference.
Yeah I saw that but it suggests that you have a feed that updates and automatically feeds every day which we can not set up via highwire.com. It does say that you can submit a feed every 30 days but updating a feed manually with a store like mine where I have over 6,000 items and adding constantly everyday well just doesn't work, I need something that is automated and regenerates as I add, remove and change product.

A option for 6000+ products would be Data Management Services.
Honestly never even heard of that before and I'm sure it costs a good chunk of money which I would gladly do if I had money lol.

Maybe Highwire has me spoiled. But when you can automatically export to Google base and automatically export to The Find one would hope that Highwire could work their magic and set up an automatic export to Bing.

I would love to get a reply from Tomas on whether Highwire has plans on generating a Bing Shopping feed for our stores. Tell Highwire what you think! and VOTE for Highwire Support for a Bing Shopping Product Feed.
I don't think it's exciting at all...I get less than 1% traffic from bing, why even worry about it.
Bing traffic may be low right now. But they're advertising on TV... It's bound to grow. One large sale would sure make it all worthwhile!
Bing has partnered with Yahoo! and together they both hold 24.29% of the market. Yahoo! has also partnered with Price Grabber, a Popular e commerce Comparison Shopping Website with a Estimated 4,200,000 - Unique Monthly Visitors.
A BING product feed in my opinion should be at the top of Highwire To-Do-List. Then again not all e commerce stores understand the importance of organic traffic.
Taxemporium Exactly! I would even be willing to pay to have this as an added feature but that's just because I know the importance of it and how it's set to explode over the next year. I have already seen an increase in my traffic from Bing sense being accepted.

So is highwire working on this-- making it a one time setup like google is? It sounds like it would be a big advertising perk for HW to have anyway...and would keep sellers here happy.
It's my understanding Highwire has the Software/Resources to generate a Bing feed for our Stores. The question, does Highwire have it on there to-do-list? We have a open support ticket on this issue and waiting patiently for a answer or announcement.
I think some people don't have organic rankings so they wouldn't know what they are talking about.
I have first page listings in every search, yahoo, bing and google. bing 1 yahoo 2-3 and rest is google.
All organic. I have even double listings...so let me think about it...yes it's not so exciting...even elefy and thefind give me more traffic.
Anyone gotten a feed setup with bing yet? What software or company did you use to do this?
We have a feed setup for our other website and am showing up on bing but not here yet. Getting a lot of traffic from bing crossing over from site to site.
I'm sure Tomas is working on something or will be. The Google feed is automated, so seems likely they will start to roll out automations for other feeds in the future.
Just adding my vote for a bing feed.
I found a web company in Daytona that took our product files, converted them to bing specs and uploaded them. I just got an e-mail from bing that everything looks good and they are going to activate them. This outfit did this all turn key and charged me $225. I didn't touch anything and they downloaded and uploaded the files. This at least gets me on bing for the 4th quarter. I hope highwire can put an application together to do this automatically like the google feed.

Atomic mall has a bing feed for the whole site so I'm sure it should not be a problem for us here. $225 ouch I will wait a while longer before I spend that on bing as they are still new to the game.
Well in typical Microsoft fashion of making things harder than they should be, I now find out it will take from 1-4 weeks for them to actually make my items active. Considering that Google has made product feeds somewhat simple, you would think Microsoft would have taken a cue.
If history is going to repeat itself, there is a pretty good chance that there will be a built in conflict with a google feed vs. a bing feed. That's kind of the way Microsoft does business.
Joe
Don't know if this is going over something already said or not, but I just went over, and it has to be a .txt, and so I guess you could download your google xml file (mine's updated daily), and you can grab it from highwire and then convert it to .txt. But I haven't tried it yet. They have a whole bunch of stipulations in their bing feed uploading guide, like no spaces in the title, etc, and I don't know if it will be formatted like that already or not. Did just get on The Find though, that was super easy.
Our items went live this week on Bing. It took about two weeks from the time we sent in the feed. There was no e-mail from Bing that our feed was approved. I just saw an increase in traffic and figured it was Bing and Yahoo. When I checked analytics, that is exactly what it was. The good news is that our items are currently showing up first on Bing organic as well as Bing shopping. I feel better on spending the $225 now since the Bing traffic did generate sales.
In the past I have found the Yahoo traffic to be "a more serious buyer" than Google traffic although Yahoo traffic was about 1/6 of the Google traffic. Hopefully the Bing shopper will also be a more serious buyer.

This is excellant news from Bonanza Marketplace Sends Seller Listings to Bing Shopping Engine
We been looking for new sources to generate traffic from Bing!
Great news for Bing Merchants. I have set up a Bing Feed and am awaiting approval from Bing so that I can submit it. It wasn't hard for me to convert my Google Feed to a Bing Feed (Following their guidelines), but I have, as many of you know, a very small store, with one-of-a-kind items.
However, I am still waiting for Highwire to set up our own Bing Feed.
Tomas, will we get this???

Oops, meant Bonanza merchanges. Wish we had edit on these comments.

The only thing that sucks though is that it is all manual. So, everytime I sold something, I should really update my Bing feed. That is just too much work. Unless the file is super easy to convert. However, if so, they one would think Tomas would be able to just adjust the XML file.
I used to list on Bonanzle, but couldn't keep up with inventory adjustments.Nice place though.
I'm thinking the reason Tomas hasn't responded is that they might be looking into this. It would be a huge selling point for Highwire. If Bonanza is able to do it, Highwire should to one would think. Unless there is an issue with the way we have our stores. I suppose with Google though, we are all listed independently from Highwire; so this would work the same no?
I guess Bonanza is just doing a feed for their whole marketplace. It wouldn't be individual like it is here.
These feeds already get me so confused. Ugh.
don't want to open a bonanzle store, hopefully Thomas could do it for Highwire. Has anyone from Highwire ever commented on Bing?
Kel - FloridaGiftsOnline.com
Anyone hear from Tomas on this yet? Not sure if I want to spend the time on the feed just to have it be automated.
We are excited to announce eCarter is sending store lingtings to Bing Shopping.
OK, I'm getting frustrated. I will have to convert and update it every day. STINKS.
Serious? So, eCrater and Bonanzle.
I wish Tomas would chime in on why or why not.
We could submit our own, but it would be nice to be able to export a Bing ready file.
Once I get the inventory situated, I will be checking into it to.
Hi All,
For those of you who are submitting your feeds to Bing manually, did you have to give a credit card number to sign up?
Also, is the MPID my SKU for the product or Highwire's item number? (My items are handmade and have no UPC's etc.)
Did you change the Google product base file on Excel to fit Bing's requirements? If so, how do you change it to a .txt without it looking like a mess and not like Bing's feed example?
It's possible I'm way over my head, so any help would be great.
Thanks,
Karen Perry

Just stumbled upon this thread, I am also curious if Tomas can get us hooked up with a Bing Feed too? Is this possible?
Bump.
Carolyn
Even Auctiva Commerve now has free Bing Feed. Come on Tomas we cannot let that Company out do us.
Thanks

Since this was originally a 7 month old thread, I am assuming Tomas hasn't seen this. Maybe he will come in soon and let us all know if he is working on this. Having a bing feed will only be an asset for us. I would love to see it happen really soon.
He sees all of the posts on here and this has been bumped many times. Obviously, there are no plans to do anything with a Bing feed.
It sucks, but if one wants to get their items into Bing, they will need to submit their own file.
I am really struggling with creating my own feed. I have gone in several times and this is just beyond my skills I guess. :(
Hi Monkeysuitvintage,
I know what you're going through. It was driving me nuts, but I finally got Bing to accept my feed. The instructions say the BrandorManufacturer and MPN are recommended but not required, but it seems they are required. I had left them off because my items are handmade so they don't have them.
You can't have any blank columns, so I put in my website title as the BrandorManufacturer and my item number (MPID) as the MPN.
I've attached a few lines of my feed. A Microsoft Works Spreadsheet. Excel would look pretty much the same I guess. You would have to save it as a txt with tabs, then save the notepad file as UTF-8 (the Encoding tab at the bottom).
I hope this helps, (unless you've already done it).
Karen
http://polymerclaycanes.com
sorry, wrong file type. Here's the xlr Works Spreadsheet and Excel xlsx. Hopefully they'll work,
Karen
Tomas,
Will we be getting Bing soon? Can you please let us know either way. Thanks so much!
The first feed I had that was finally accepted by BING after 1 1/2 months. It did included BrandorManufacturer. My products varied so, I dropped using brand, because a BING tech to me it was not required. My latest feed was accepted without that BRAND column. NOW I only use the following columns and it works ok: MPID, Title, ProductURL, price, Description, ImageURL, MerchantCategory.
You have to work with them, email them alot, or you will not know what is wrong with your feed. I always worked with the same person and he is very helpful and returns my emails in a day or 2. Once your FIRST feed finally shows up, your new feed takes about 3 working days to update. Unfortunately you have to wait your turn to be accepted because they are so busy.
This info pertains to a business domain thru another website company. Re: Visits, our traffic rates this way with BING being first, Google Product Search, TheFind
Marilyn
Also, BING is changing stuff around, so my above info is not carved in stone for very long. IF, you have a BING FEED that works now, DO NOT CHANGE it.
Marilyn
Yeah! So excited! I finally got accepted by Bing. Now, they're just waiting for my feed.
Gotta figure out to do this....
For those who have done a bing feed, can you use any spreadsheet program? Such as excel?
Thanks!
Stephanie

Sorry, should've read the above posts carefully.
For MPID, what do you use? Do you use the SKU? Or Variant Name?

Well after working through all the red tape (typical Micorsoft run around) I'm approved with bing advertising and bing shopping. Have step 1 thru 3 completed and waiting on Bing shopping now approve my FTP upload. Finally downloaded a sample spredsheet from Bing and manually inserted 10 items and saved the .xlm to Tab Delimited .txt file which is per Bing instructions. As soon as Bing approves FTP Password and Username change I will be all set.
If this sample goes through I'm going to export my Highwire file which is cvs and change the header tab from Google to Bing tabs.
Then I will delete colums and add colums as needed. The main new column will be the url of the image.
Just now waiting on Bing and have my fingers crossed.
Thanks
Billy

I got the e-mail from Bing finally approving my account and now they want me to submit my feed. I can create the feed, but I don't know how to set up the feed settings at their Merchant center. My questions are:
In Catalog Management in Tools did you select Merchant Upload and create an FTP account or did you select Microsoft Upload and provide a URL. OR did you something completely different to submit your Bing Feed.
Help, please.
Carolyn
Billy... what are you using for the image URL????
Carolyn, You have to send and recieve a lot of emails. In the tools section as you set up each section and hit save you have to respond to the email they sent you and they set up the next step. I worked about all day trying to set ftp for they sent me a password and username. I used it and changed password and kept hitting save. Nothing would happen. I read that you have to use a FTP program to up load and I have Filezilla which is free and easy to use. I entered the server address which is in the bing shopping manual and on your email. But it would not accept my password. Finally found in the forum that you must respond to the email with the FTP set up on it and they will set up your FTP account. That is what I'm waiting for now.
The best and easiest way to find you product image url is to go to your store web site. Find the product you are inserting and right click on the image. If using IE which I'm using IE9 Right click your image and click open link. A page will open with a larger image and you can copy the url from the address window. Or you can click on property and the url is on there.
With Firefox right click your image on your web site and click on open in new window and copy url in the address window. Also with the new Firefox click on copy image location. This will copy the url and then paste it to your feed. Just in case you are not sure what I mean by copy url in the address bar this is where you see http://www.cncjewelrystore.com Your image url will look like this: http://images.buyitsellit.com/2619016_290.jpg. Hope this helps and if I can be of any further assistance please let me know. I will tell you what little bit I know and as I learn I will pass it on.
Like I said in the very beginning, Bing is Microsoft and you know they do not make anything easy. They have too much money so they have too many employees and so they have to give everyone something to do. On Google sign up for one account and you can do everything they have. On Bing sign up for ads which is the program to pay for adwords same as Google. Then from there you sign up for Bing shopping. Who figures.
Thanks

Thanks Billy for the FTP information. The URL I am referring to is the URL for the feed if you select Microsoft Download instead of Merchant Upload. I have set up the FTP Account, but haven't had another e-mail from them. I was hoping to use the download with my feed URL, but I will try the FTP and the software that you recommended.
Carolyn
Further Update. I decided to use the Microsoft Download instead of the Merchant Upload. I uploaded the file to my Highwire File Browser and submitted that URL to Bing. The Feed was accepted and now we will see if it is any good, or if it is rejected. Takes up to two days to find out.
Again, thanks for all your help everywhere on this forum.
Carolyn
Carolyn,
I remember reading about the upload and download yesterday. I believe the difference was if you have a server where you can place your feed link then you can select the microsoft upload. I guess you could have a on line storage link which a lot of places are offering for free now. You may be able to place your feed link there and and micorsoft would pick it up.
The FileZilla FTP program can be found here: http://filezilla-project.org/ Select the client. It is very simple just fill in the blanks at the top. The bottom portion acts like windows explorer. So you go through the link just like in windows explorer til you find you feed link where every you saved it. Click on it and hit auto.
Thanks

My feed is now live on Bing. Thanks to those of you (especially Billy) who posted helpful comments on this thread.
Of course, the feed must be resubmitted at least once every 30 days, and it must be updated manually for every new product we add. This may work for a small store like mine, but I think it could be a real pain to someone who has a regular or large e-commerce store front.
I am hoping that as new pricing is announced one of the draws will be the addition of a Bing Feed from Highwire.
Carolyn
I agree. It really will be a hassle to have to manually update the file for each new item or item adjustment. I'd have to redo the file each time in order to get it right as I'd always forget to update quantity etc.
As I said in the other thread, even if we had to add information for the items, at least having something we could download would be great. Then, we'd add in the brand or whatever we needed to, and could then forward that file over to Bing.
I think even if there was a way for us to edit our items and add in the necessary info, that would be a good way to.
Had a sale from Bing Shopping!! Hopefully Highwire will help with the Bing Feed. As I said before, I have a very small store and it is easier for me to manually keep up with the Bing Feed, but help from Highwire for all of us would be appreciated.
Carolyn
Carolyn,
Congrat! I pretty gave up on Bing! Just too much to edit the file, espec. for the kind of items that i sell. I hope that Thomas will have something ready for Bing soon. :)
Stephanie,

I looked at the Auctiva site the other day (and no way would I go back to Auctiva), but they do say that they have automated feeds for Google, Bing and the Find.
Carolyn
I've used auctiva several years ago to list on ebay because they were free during that time and I liked their backgrounds and free extra pics. Not sure what they cost now. Was a messy process for me though. I had difficulty editing my ebay listings once the listings are listed on ebay.
Haven't checked out their ecommerce store options. Maybe I 'll check them. Not planning to leave Highwire. Just curious.
Stephanie,
www.obcollectible.com
It appears that Bing is not taking any new merchants until they get some backend stuff updated. I had checked the requirements for their feed, and it didn't seem super complicated. They only required 6 headings
ImageURL
MerchantProductID
Title
ProductURL
Price
Description
I think all of that info is on the XML file already for Google, so not sure what would be so complicated to spit out a bing file for us all. Oh well, hopefully, they will start accepting new merchants soon.
Got an order from Bing. Don't know how. I've been accepted on Bing but my feed weren't approved.
I'm happy that I got an order from Bing. Just don't know how my items ended up on Bing... but I'm happy and hope that all my items will end up on Bing.
Stephanie,

Just realized that the order did not come from Bing Shopping but through Bing Images.
