This is about SOPA the bill that was just passed concerning content on the internet. Shut down by the Secret Service - that's scary! So if someone who has a store thru HW is selling bootleg DVDs or knock-offs all our stores could be suspended.

Just fixed mine.
It has a lot more to do with bootlegs and knock-offs right? I mean Jotform doesn't have either of those.

I don't believe the SOPA legislation has passed?? I was under the impression it had been shelved (for now anyways...). But what a mess for jotform users... I read some of the comments on their website.... Whew!!!
But... this unfortunate situation does beg the question... HOW might something like this affect HW stores if a similar situation happens because of an individual HW store selling what Diana describes? If www.yourstorename.highwire.com is shut down are we all out of business????

It's about content on sites that were using JotForm - shut down by the Secret Service. I doubt a company this size was shut down due to price comparisons.
Yeah, sounds like it has nothing to do with SOPA. No, I don't think SOPA has passed either.
However, the likely thing will be that their other domains will soon get blocked as well. It seems to be just a matter to time. Therefore, does anyone know a better way to do a form or is there any way to do a simple coded form?

I can code a genera form, but I can't figure out how to submit the information. I can't use "mailto" as not many use Outlook anymore.

As Dale mentioned it's an easy fix - change the .com of the url to .net or .us

I revised mine earlier and it worked but just tested it again and it's not working. Anyone else having that problem?

Technically yes, but DMCA rules allow for a 24 hour window once notified to remove the offending material or site before further action is taken. We receive these types of requests every now and then. If we get a legal DCMA claim, we'll disable the store and ask questions later so nobody else is affected.

My jotform is working again...
Thanks for the info, Tomas. That is reassuring to know that.

Tomas, thank you!!! Much relieved here!
Would be interesting to know why jotform didn't handle their situation in a similar fashion...

Thanks Tomas!
Shirley I was wondering about that also. From the article it looks like they perhaps tried to take that approach. Dunno :-(
Dale I had to use the .us for mine to work

Ugh! I know it's an easy fix, and as I posted, I already fixed mine.
The problem is, whomever had the .com shut down is likely not to just allow the other sites to stay without a fix. Jotform may even get a cease letter soon advising them that using the other domains was some violation. Jotform hasn't received much info, so who knows if they've been able to fix the outstanding issue.
Rather than keep wondering, I think it would be easier to just use a simple form and not have to use yet another third party.

I for one know that if a government agency shut down my domain, creating other domains to reroute around the agency might not be a super smart idea. Government agencies tend to not like it when we mess with them like that.

Thanks, Diana. I originally used .us which worked for a while but after I tested it again, it didn't work so I switched to .net. It seems to be okay now. According to the instructions, either one is supposed to work.
It does looks like jotform tried to take that approach but the Secret Service asked godaddy to suspend now and will ask questions later.
