Google Merchant Center - Verifying Your Site

After you have created your Google Merchant center account, you will be presented with the dashboard and a warning stating that you will need to verify and claim your website's URL. Click on the General Settings link to get started.

Login into Google Merchant center and start verification process.

Click on Verify this URL to proceed to the next step.

Since you can not upload any files to the root directory of your site, you will need to choose the Alternate methods tab.

Choose the meta tag method and then copy the code as illustrated above. Your code will be unique and will differ from the screenshot above.

Launch the template editor and paste your verification code.

After you have copied your verification code from Google, load the Template Editor from your Highwire admin (Menu: Appearance / Template Editor) and click on the Home Page template.

Paste the verification code and save your template.

Paste the verification code in the template. It should go in the <head> section, before the last </head> section. Once you have completed this, click "Publish" to save your template.

Lastly, click the verify button to verify your site!
