Categories - How to create a new category

This lesson will show you the simple steps of creating a store category.

Go to the Catalog/Categories menu and click on the Add Category Button.

Enter your category name (required)

Enter your category name which will be shown in your category list. The maximum length of a category name is 50 characters. For display purposes, it's best to be as short and descriptive as possible.

Category Description (optional)

The category description will be shown at the top of the category page before the product list. You can enter text or add images using the built in HTML editor.

Select a Parent Category (required)

Choose a parent for your new category by selecting it in the list. If "No Parent Category" is selected, it will be treated as a root category.

Enter your SEO Details (optional)

Save your category

"Save and exit" will save your category and return you to the category list page. "Save and create new" will save your category and clear the form to enter a new one.
