When registering your store, you were automatically provided with a domain such as yourstore.highwire.com, but you can use your own domain such as "mystoredomain.com".
To add your custom domain, log in to your dashboard and go to Settings>Domain Hosting. If you have an existing domain, click the button ‘Add Existing Domain’. If you have not registered a custom domain but would like to register one, this can be done by clicking the button ‘Register New Domain’.
Purchasing is affordable and can be completed quickly. There are many domain registrars to choose from. Here's just a short list:
GoDaddy
NameCheap
1and1
Google Apps
Network Solutions
domain.com
When configuring your domain, there a couple things you should be familiar with.
Root Domain - (example: mystoredomain1.com)
In order to use a root domain with out a subdomain such as www, you will need to create an A record.
Sub Domain - (example: www.mystoredomain1.com)
The host configuration for a sub domain must be set up using a CNAME
The use of a CNAME is recommended when ever available since using an A record is not dynamic and must point to a static IP address which is subject to change. In the event we would ever change an IP address, we will make proper notifications a head of time.
There are two methods to configure your root domain. (URL Forwarding and A Record mapping)
URL Fowarding
This method will automatically redirect your root domain to your subdomain. When a visitor visits http://mystoredomain1.com/, they will be redirected to http://www.mystoredomain1.com using domain forwarding. Most domain registrars offer this forwarding feature. If forwarding is not available, you will need to use the following method.
A Record Mapping
You will need to create an A record for your sub domain to point to the IP address of 173.204.6.115
