Default Favicon . . . is there a way?

I'd like to be able to set-up a default FavIcon for all my pages and only have to add the link rel="shortcut icon" logic on pages that use a different Favicon.  This would be especially helpful for all the categories that have to be managed.

Is that currently available someplace and if not, any chance of having the feature added to the Store Logo page?  You could put in the FavIcon link and have it be part of all store pages.

Thanks,
Bruce

Bruce, search for Favicon in the support forum and there is an article that describes how to do it. Basically size your logo to 16 pixels, label it Favicon.ico, upload it to the file browser, and use that file location URL with the code that is mentioned in the forum. I just implemented it and it worked on OrganicMechanic.com!

Christo,

Thank you  for taking time to reply.  I know how to put a Favicon onto a page, it on my home page and most support pages, but to get the Favicon onto every product, category page you have to ad the favicon code to every product / category.

My suggestion was having a place to load a default favicon for my store.  I have read all the favicon support threads, but nothing talks about a being able to define a default Favicon image.

Adding that feature to the Store Logo page is a good idea.  In the meantime, if you add the favicon link to just two template pages:  the results page and the details page, it will show on all your category and product pages.  Assuming you are using custom templates, of course.  If you're using a highwire theme, you won't have access to those template pages.

I hear you, I agree, it should be an easy feature to upload, just like the store logo! : )

To add it to every page go into the 'edit template' interface and add it to each page. If you are using a highwire theme you can choose to edit that too, that is what I did for www.OrganicMechanic.com. There are only 8 or so pages, as one page will cover all of the products, one for all product category pages, one for all custom pages, etc.

Best of luck!
