Many wanted this before, so Im mentioning it here too.
Id love to know what makes this difficult... its just one more field??? (Just let it be the first of the variants)
I get so embarassed when I cannot communicate over the phone with my customers, since I dont have any item numbers (and my titles are crazy lists of keywords, which often are very very similiar to each other)
Thanks!

Please! Just about every single time a customer calls me, they end up saying "Gosh, there is no item number." Same if they email to ask a question.
It needs to be a variable, so it can be used in formatting, rather than having to include a number in the text of the discription.
Thanks
Asking for this again. Had 2 calls yesterday... both times with the "ahhh.... well, its ..... uh.. there isnt an item number"
Yes, people do call with questions on items sometimes. I sell clothing, so mostly the questions are about how does the sizing of the item run.
I also get calls asking for rush shipping, or just to confirm their items will arrive by a particular date. Most anyone who calls then wants to just do the order over the phone. And, yes, calls from people who do not want to place the order online.
Id LOVE it if everyone always used email to handle everything, but, that is not reality. Some people call. In order to communicate with those people, I need to display an item number.... that I can format so its in the same place on every product, and can stand out appropriately.
Thank you,
I agree this seems like such a simple thing to do. If I can't get this added I'm going to be forced to look at another option as a shopping cart.
My customers need to see a SKU/ Part number when ordering and I'm not re-entering in that data when I know it's there. Just make the field available and I can add it to a custom field.
Thanks

Come on this is not so difficult. Please add this.
I have several thousand items listed without a sku... But I finally decided to deal with this issue myself a while back. Too many extremely difficult conversations with customers trying to ensure we were both talking about the same item. Soooo.... I now include the item sku as part of my description. Some day when I'm really bored (HA!) I may go back and address the several thousand missing sku's. However, since I sell mostly one-of-a-kind items, my method may not be as workable for those who sell from a "multiples per individual item" inventory. Dunno about that...
I really really really really want it as its on field, so that I can format it separately from the description text.
So it can be in a particular spot on each item, and I can change that spot if I want to, and without having to deal with formatting while making item descriptions.
I guess I havnt gotten to the point of being willing to do that, but, maybe Ill try it on the next few items I set up.
The thing is, it would be a MUCH more elegant solution to have it as its own field...
I dont even get why some fields are available and some are not... Why not make them all availalbe (not all in the basic templates, but all available... there are so many different business models, and so many different types of items (even services) to sell. Even if its not typical to use some particular fields... that doesnt mean there isnt a good reason to use them in certain situations.
I agree on the need for an option to show a product ID number, or SKU, in the listing that customers are looking at.
I also get communications (calls, emails) about items and if they don't refer to the entire title I can't always tell which of several similar items they are asking about, or trying to order via phone.
We already have a field for a SKU number, how about the option to make it visible in the online listing? Ideally it would locate near the title, or else near the add-to-cart button, and then show again in the cart.
An elderly lady called me the other day. It seemed to be taking a lot of the energy she had just to speak to me.
She told me she wanted item number 1 3 9 0. Well, I know I dont have any item numbers showing at all...
It turned out, the item she was referring to was PRICED 13.90. Poor dear.
I'm having all of the same issues that are stated above. Its is really becoming a big customer service problem for us. So to combat that i started adding Sku's to the bottom of the description, but this is still not very consumer friendly, nor is it user friendly to me seeing as how i have to enter the SKU twice on every product. Will someone from the support team please respond to this. Is there an update coming soon that will be adding this? Don't get me wrong i'm happy with most everything highwire offers but the lack of this feature has a negative affect on my business. i do not wish to but i may start looking into doing eCommerce with another company.
ANd.... the SKU prints on the receipt... a number the customer can do nothing with, since its not visible to them anywhere on the site.
Please can we have the SKU number available to put into our Product description templates?????
Yes, please make the SKU available on the Product Results and Product Detail pages.
I do not understand how something as basic to an online store as a product SKU is not available, especially when the data is already captured in a field. I want to add the SKU to my description and use it in snippets.
Can this please be made possible before holiday sales come into full swing? I tend to get more calls during Nov and Dec, and people need a way to refer to the items they are looking at, in a way that I can understand. (Many of my titles are very similar to each other).
I just need the variable to be available (and to know the name of it). I will add it into my custom template myself.
thank you!
